Available Technology

The following are some of the more common technologies that medical clinics in BC rely on: 

Care Connect – is BC’s secure, view-only Electronic Health Record (EHR) that offers authorized care providers access to encounters, provincial and community lab results, diagnostic imaging, clinical documents from both non health authority and health authority sources, and provincial immunization records for patients within B.C.

Clinics can request access to CareConnect. Clinics using certain EMR platforms can  request rapid access through their EMRFor more information, visit Care Connect FAQ or contact CareConnect support at private.careconnect@phsa.ca. 

UptoDate is a clinical decision-making support tool available through NNPBC NP PIP and/or from your local Division of Family Practice. 

Pathways is an online resource that gives providers and their office staff quick access to current and accurate forms and resources as well as referral information, including wait times and areas of expertise, for specialists and specialty clinics. NPs can request access to Pathways here and physicians can request access to Pathways here. 

PharmaNet is a provincial network linking all BC pharmacies to a central data system administered by the Ministry of Health. It keeps a record of every prescription dispensed in a BC community pharmacy and is administered by the Ministry of Health. Excelleris is a major report delivery service in BC, including labs, medical imaging, and health care records. Results delivery is integrated with many EMRs in BC. Your EMR vendor may provide direction on enrolling in results delivery. Clinics can Register for Excelleris report delivery. For further support contact LaunchPad BC.
