Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide mobile, community-based nursing services in North Vancouver and West Vancouver on a subcontractor basis. This position is ideal for an LPN looking for flexible, independent work while contributing to a developing and dynamic health care business.
The LPN will provide skilled nursing services ensuring professional, reliable, and personalized care tailored to each client’s needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting health assessments and wellness checks, monitoring vital signs, administering medications as ordered, coordinating with the healthcare team, educating patients and families, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. The LPN must also be proficient in phlebotomy, with demonstrated experience performing blood draws safely and accurately in a home care environment.

All nursing services must be delivered in accordance with the standards of practice, scope, and professional guidelines set by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The ideal candidate is skilled, detail-oriented, and committed to promoting patient comfort, safety, and independence while upholding the highest standards of nursing practice.


Skills

Proven experience in nursing home, hospital, or acute care settings
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy
Familiarity with electronic health record systems
Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including children and elderly patients
Ability to perform laboratory tasks related to laboratory experience or specimen collection
Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams
Ability to manage patient load efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation and treatment plans

Key responsibilities

  • Administer medications and perform treatments accurately according to physician orders within LPN scope of practice
  • Perform patient assessments and wellness checks
  • Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection
  • Support patients with activities of daily living, including mobility, hygiene, and nutrition
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care
  • Educate patients and families about health management, medication usage, and post-discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, treatments, and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control procedures
  • Adhere to BCCNM standards of practice and organizational policies

Qualifications

Current and active registration, in good standing, with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing program
Successful completion of a phlebotomy training course
Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy and venipuncture (required)
Current CPR/BLS certification
Up to date immunizations
Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Previous community or home health experience considered an asset
Previous experience with Jane App considered an asset
Valid BC Driver’s License and reliable vehicle and insurance (required)
Criminal Record Check

 

Compensation & benefits

Job Type: Subcontractor
Pay: $43/hour
Hours: 8-40 hours per week depending on demand
