Patrice Gordon, NP(F)

Patrice Gordon is a family nurse practitioner from Rossland, British Columbia. She lives on a small ranch on Horn Lake in the Chilcotin region of B.C., a base from which she provides mobile medical care to remote communities, predominantly First Nations, around west-central B.C. Patrice is a member of the Canadian Red Cross Emergency Response Unit (ERU). In 2016, she was featured as part of the Red Cross Faces of Humanity campaign and was Team Leader of the Canadian ERU in Bangladesh as part of the Myanmar refugee response in the fall of 2017. She was also assigned overseas during the 2014 Ebola outbreak where she was stationed in Kenema, Sierra Leone at the Ebola Treatment Centre. In 2015, she led an ERU team in Nepal following the earthquake there. In addition to her work with the Red Cross, Patrice also provided trauma care at the Canadian Military Hospital in Kandahar, Afghanistan, as a pediatric critical care and emergency nurse specialist in New Zealand, as a fertility coordinator in the United States, as a critical care/flight medic in the Canadian Arctic, as an educator for baccalaureate nursing students and as a medic for high-altitude mountaineering and sailing expeditions. Patrice has her BSc in nursing from the University of Victoria and her Masters in Nursing: Nurse Practitioner from Athabasca University. She also completed an international medicine and public health diploma at the Institute for International Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri, specializing in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of perinatal and infant mortality, tropical diseases, tuberculosis, malaria and HIV/AIDS. Patrice was the winner of the Health Care Hero Golden Apple Award in 2015 for her provision of quality care and support to people in the interior region of B.C.
