It was an incredible experience of being in a room with nurses, who although may have had some differences of opinions about the future of national nursing in Canada, were all united by their commonality of passion and dedication towards the profession.

The BC delegates under the leadership of Julie were a fantastic source of support and knowledge. Thank you for this experience.

As CNA President Dr. Barbara Mildon repeatedly states CNA is here to stay and my commitment to you and the nurses of Canada is to work with the other directors on the Board to re-conceptualize the governance of CNA based on the direction we were given by the membership.

I was honoured to be in the company of so many committed Canadian Nurses facing difficult and complex decisions ~with fortitude.

I was especially proud of Julie Fraser's leadership when she gave with her calm, reassuring and refocusing direction during a contentious and divisive debate. It served to take the debate down to a comfortable temperature. BC was very well represented and engaged.

It is quite frightening to think of how close we came to not having a voice in these important national debates on the future of the profession in Canada. Those of us privileged to be able in Ottawa this week have come away in the certain knowledge that the profession is strong, relevant and powerful!
