Policy & Advocacy: Government Engagement
On September 4, 2018, the new BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP) was established, regulating all four nursing designations in BC. This is a positive step forward for nursing in the province, and an outcome that the four nursing associations have supported for a number of years. NNPBC looks forward to working closely with our new College and being the association voice representing LPNs, NPs, RNs and RPNs in British Columbia.

Nursing Synthesis and Review of the Ministry of Health Policy Papers

In February 2015, the Ministry of Health released a series of policy papers outlining government's vision and recommendations for healthcare in BC. The BC Coalition of Nursing Associations (BCCNA) completed a synthesis of these policy papers, including an analysis of the issues through a nursing perspective. This synthesis was a key tool used by nurses and stakeholders who attended BCCNA's policy forum in July of 2015.

Nurse Practitioner integration into primary care models

The NP council of the Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC works directly with the Ministry of Health to provide expertise in how to integrate the NP perspective and practice into the broader healthcare system in BC to maximize the NP role and improve health outcomes.
