NP Council Provincial Initiatives

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) practice autonomously and collaboratively to provide healthcare services that contribute to the health and well-being of British Columbians. NPs practice in diverse settings, improving access to healthcare by contributing to a system that is responsive to the needs of all in the province.

The NP council of the Nurses and Nurse Practitioners of BC is the voice of BC NPs. We represent the unique perspectives and needs of NPs and their practice in the province’s health and social policy system. The NP council works directly with the Ministry of Health to provide expertise in how to integrate the NP perspective and practice into the broader healthcare system in BC to maximize the NP role and improve health outcomes.

We also collaborate with regulators to address barriers to NP practice, and improve healthcare delivery to British Columbians. We support and advance the professional interests of BC NPs by promoting a social, economic, and political climate in which NPs can provide accessible, efficient and effective health care that meets the highest professional standards and scope of practice.
