Important steps towards National Pharmacare
Today, June 12, 2019, marks an important step towards national pharmacare. The chair of the Federal Liberal governments advisory council is recommending the establishment of a universal, single-payer pharmacare system in the report that was released this morning.
NNPBC is aligned and supportive of the work that CNA and CNFU have been doing to move this important national issue forward. Nurses and Nurse Practitioners advocate for pharmacare to be a seamless extension of our universal heath care system across Canada and the principles of the Pharmacare program would best serve the public if governed by the principles of the Canada Health Act, which include:
- Universality
- Public, Single-Payer Administration
- Accessibility
- Comprehensiveness
- Portable Coverage
