NNPBC is a not for profit society registered in the province of British Columbia

September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On this day we pay respect to the Indigenous children who never returned home from residential schools, as well as to Survivors, Intergenerational Survivors, and Indigenous communities.

On March 9, 2023, the BC provincial government passed legislation making September 30 a statutory holiday, enabling all British Columbians to commemorate this important date, publicly acknowledge the harms of residential schools, and deepen their understanding of the history and impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation also has its roots in Orange Shirt Day. To commemorate Orange Shirt Day, we wear the colour orange to raise awareness about the impacts of residential schools and share the message, 'Every Child Matters.'

NNPBC is honoured to support Orange Shirt Day in raising awareness about the impacts of residential schools on Indigenous communities. This year's orange shirts were designed by Indigenous artist Rose S. of Tsartlip Nation and are available for $25 plus shipping, while quantities last. A portion of proceeds raised will be donated to a charity that benefits reconciliation and Indigenous communities. If you are interested, please contact us at info@nnpbc.com.

NNPBC's office is located on the traditional and unceded territories of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. NNPBC humbly acknowledges all the unceded and traditional territories on which we live, work, learn, and play and for which we are eternally grateful.

Please note that NNPBC will be closed on October 2 (in lieu of September 30) out of respect and so that we may honour the victims and survivors.
