World Environmental Health Day takes place annually on September 26. This year, we recognize this important date with the theme, 'Creating Resilient Communities through Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.' This theme was chosen by the International Federation of Environmental Health to call to action the global community to collectively address climate change and prepare for disaster risks.
Planetary Health and Nursing
Nurses are acutely aware of how environmental factors significantly impact human health and are key players in helping communities to understand these effects. Nursing knows that planetary health is a key issue and that a concerted approach is required to reduce risk and mitigate the future outcomes of extreme weather and climate events.
